Also known as Money Plant or Honesty. Tiny white and purple flowers bloom in the spring (but don’t make very good cut flowers) and, with time, develop into the flat, disc-like seed pods that these plants are typically grown for. Stems can be harvested when the pods are green as a unique, textural filler. If left to mature on the plant, the seed pods can be dried and peeled to reveal a transluscent, glass-like membrane that is extremely beautiful.

Growing Instructions: Sow in late spring or early summer in cell trays, covering lightly with soil. Plant out 6-8 weeks before your first frost in the fall. Because this is a true biennial, it will grow slowly after transplanting and survive the winter as a small mound of leaves, and then bloom the following spring. Lunaria is typically harvested for its seed pods, which you can harvest green or allow to dry out and peel to reveal the silvery lining. Storing seeds in the freezer for a few weeks will aid germination.

Days to maturity: 330 - 360 days

Each envelope contains at least 100 seeds.

NOTE: Lunaria is considered invasive in some areas of North America – please look up invasive species in your area before growing.
